Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi inaugurated the special Khadi Exhibition organised at INA Delhi Haat on Friday in the presence of Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman , Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) as the Chief Guest. This exhibition, organised during the festive season as part of the ' Khadi Mahotsav ' being celebrated across the country, aims to promote the ' Vocal for Local ' and ' Atmanirbhar Bharat ' campaign of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and to increase the income of Khadi artisans. This special Khadi exhibition is being organised by the State Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, New Delhi till 31 October. In this exhibition, 157 stalls of 55 Khadi institutions and 102 village industry units from various states of the country including Delhi , Rajasthan , Bihar , Tamil Nadu , Maharashtra , Gujarat , Odisha , Madhya Pradesh , Bengal , Haryana , Jammu have been set up , where a wide range of Khadi and Village Industry products are being displayed. Various types of sarees, readymade garments, handicraft items, herbal and ayurvedic products, leather goods, handmade paper products, pickles, spices, soaps, shampoos, honey etc. are being displayed for sale in different stalls in the exhibition. The artisans and craftsmen participating in the exhibition are also giving live demonstrations of their diverse range of Khadi and Village Industry products.
Addressing the media at the inaugural event, Chief Guest Union Minister MSME Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi appealed to all the countrymen to buy Khadi and local products as much as possible. On this occasion, he specially urged the people of Delhi to visit this Khadi exhibition for festive shopping and become a part of the 'Vocal for Local' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaign in line with the vision of the Prime Minister by purchasing indigenous Khadi products. He further said that the broad objective of this exhibition of Khadi and Village Industry products is to strengthen the economic condition of rural artisans and traditional craftsmen, so that they can be empowered and the living heritage of India's indigenous craftsmanship can be preserved. This exhibition has provided an excellent platform to the artists of the country to showcase their art.
During the media interaction, KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar said that in line with the farsighted approach of Pujya Bapuji and under the able leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the promoter of ' New India's New Khadi ' , the business of Khadi and Village Industries has crossed Rs 1 lakh 55 thousand crore in the last financial year, the direct benefit of which has been received by the Khadi artisans of the country. Recently, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, a 25 percent increase in the remuneration of spinners spinning yarn on the charkha and a 7 percent increase in the remuneration of weavers weaving on the loom is a proof of this. KVIC Chairman further said that recently Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had appealed to the countrymen to buy ' Made in India ' products through his popular program ' Mann Ki Baat ' . Immediately after his appeal, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Delhiites have created a new record by buying Khadi products worth Rs 2 crore 1 lakh 37 thousand in a day at ' Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan ' in New Delhi . This achievement reflects the commitment of the people towards ' Vocal for Local ' and ' Make in India ' .
To enhance the visitor experience, the exhibition will also feature live demonstrations and enchanting cultural programs showcasing the rich traditional art and craftsmanship of India. This is not just an exhibition but a platform that contributes to preserving the indigenous craftsmanship of India by allowing rural artisans to showcase their craftsmanship as well as promoting their economic empowerment.
