As Delhi braces for the partial closures during the G20 Summit this weekend, mall operators in the neighboring cities of Gurgaon, Noida, and Ghaziabad are gearing up for what they hope will be a weekend of unprecedented footfall. The convergence of G20 restrictions and the release of the much-anticipated Shahrukh Khan movie Jawaan has created the perfect storm, enticing residents to seek entertainment, shopping, and respite from the constraints of the summit.

With Delhi's strict restrictions on public gatherings during the G20 Summit, citizens are looking for alternative ways to spend their weekend. This shift in consumer behavior has presented a golden opportunity for malls in the National Capital Region (NCR). While earlier it was anticipated the G20 restrictions may impact neighboring areas of Delhi as well but mall operators are expecting the opposite.

Commenting on this Prashant Vashisht, Senior Vice President (Leasing) Elan Group shared “Amidst the G20 restrictions, we don't foresee much impact on malls and retail outlets in Gurgaon. We are expecting business as usual in the coming weeks, in fact, the footfall may tend to increase owing to the weekend and the release of SRK's much-anticipated movie Jawaan''

Elan Group recently welcomed leading brands like Deerika Hypermarket, HOB, and other brands at their high street retail Elan Town Centre located at sector 67 Sohna Road, Gurgaon. It also houses a four-screen PVR multiplex.

On the other hand, mall operators in Noida and Greater Noida are also optimistic about the footfall this weekend.

Sharing insights Kunal Rishi, COO, of Paras Buildtech said   “The malls in Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad are gearing up for an extraordinary weekend, poised to shatter its own records in footfall. With the G-20 summit causing restrictions in the neighboring national capital, Delhi, shoppers are flocking to these hubs, making them the ultimate shopping destination. On this occasion, Noida, Gurgaon, and Ghaziabad have transformed into a bustling hub of entertainment and retail therapy. It's a weekend of unparalleled shopping, leisure, and cinematic delight – an unmissable opportunity for everyone in the NCR!" -

The combination of retail therapy and entertainment promises a welcome respite for people seeking to escape the confines of their homes during the G20 restrictions.
