Condolences on DPIIT Secretary Dr Mohapatra's Demise

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the demise of DPIIT Secretary, Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, "Saddened by the demise of Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, DPIIT Secretary. I had worked with him extensively in Gujarat and at the Centre. He had a great understanding of administrative issues and was known for his innovative zeal. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti."

Cabinet Secretary Shri Rajiv Gauba has expressed deep shock at the untimely death of Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary DPIIT. In his condolence message, Shri Gauba said, “Dr. Mohapatra was a dear colleague and an outstanding civil servant with exceptional qualities of strategic thinking and leadership. As the head of one of the Empowered Groups, he worked with utmost dedication in the ongoing fight against Covid-19 pandemic. Even after he had tested positive and was not well, he continued to work for long hours, monitoring the supply of oxygen across the country, under very challenging circumstances. He will be remembered for his proactive approach and his commitment to public service. His untimely death is an irreparable loss to all of us. I extend my deepest condolences to the members of his family."

Indian Economic Service Association ( IESA) also conveys its deepest condolence on the sad and untimely demise of Dr Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade(DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Dr Mohapatra an IAS officer 1986 batch, Gujarat Cadre passed away on June 19th morning fighting covid-19. "It was God's will and we have to accept this tragic loss. Dr Mohapatra has been holding the post of Secretary since August 1, 2019 and prior to that he was Chairman of Airport Authority of India. He has held several important posts in the State Government of Gujarat and in Central Government and was known for his hard work and efficiency. He had a very illustrious career which was put to an end by covid. Dr. Mahapatra is survived by his wife and two sons. We hope and pray that God will grant strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss." said Mr Arun Kumar Jha, Director General of National Productivity Council.
