Cleantech Innovations by SME Sector for Environmental Agility Discussed by WWF

WWF-India, a leading conservation organization that works to promote climate innovation in SME sector in conjunction with the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and TiE Chennai as a supporting partner, organized a regional workshop on "Climate Solver: Fostering Cleantech Innovation in SME sector in India" on 23 Feb, 2018.

In order to reach out to clean-tech entrepreneurs working on sustainable energy solution, this was the first among the series of regional workshop that was organized this year.

Through the initiative of WWF’s Climate Solver platform various small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has been acknowledged for using innovative technologies that has significantly reduced the carbon-dioxide emissions or provide improved energy access to rural or urban poor.

In the last 5 years, this platform has acknowledged and awarded 17 promising innovators as “Climate Solver”.

The motive behind this Climate Solver initiative is to raise the climate innovation among the SMEs and build a community of clean energy innovation practice by providing and supporting sustainable solutions and innovations.

SICCI Secretary S Raghavan said the cleantech initiative has been introduced under the brand “Footprint” in order to facilitate best practices to reduce carbon emissions or footprints.

He further said that expert committee under this initiative comprises of both industry professional and academicians who take initiative in promoting green energy as well as zero liquid discharge in order to protect environment from green house effect.

Various representatives from government, venture capitalists, incubation centres, SMEs, universities, financial institutions, industry associations and other ecosystem stakeholders from the southern region participated in the workshop.

Various leaders from various industries have been invited to share their experiences as well as their innovations and how they have benefitted from implementing these so that other learns from their experiences to accelerate cleantech innovation he added.
