BioCon to Start New R&D Facility and Create 1500 Jobs in Telengana

The upcoming R&D lab will be created under Biocon's subsidery company - Syngene, which is expected to generate 1000 high tech jobs out of the total 1500 jobs.

India's leading largest biopharmaceutical company-Biocon will be setting up a new R&D facility in Telengana's Genome Valley and will also be expanding it's current presence in Hyderabad on APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) /Intermediates. This new expansion of Biocon is going to add 1500 new jobs in the region.

The upcoming R& D lab will be created under the subsidery company - Syngene , which is expected to generate 1000 high tech jobs out of the total 1500 jobs.

Biocon Managing Director Ms. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw met Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, on the sidelines of BioAsia 2018 at HICC.

“BioPharma is an important sector from today’s perspective. Since it has the potential to transform the daily lives of common people,” says Ms Kiran Majumdar Shaw.

In addition, the Biocon MD also remarked that she is impressed by visionary leadership of Telengana Government. She opined that when the industry sees leadership like this, they are motivated to come forward and support them.

She also emphasized on the need of an proactive ecosystem for startups and entrepreneurs as the need of this hour. “The Telegana’s Genome Valley is a good example of the much needed startup ecosystem which only a proactive government can provide. We are excited to be part of this.” She said.

Minister gave an overview of the latest infrastructure that the Telangana government has been developing in the state, which includes Pharma City, Medical Devices Park and Genome Valley Phase 2.
