Vodafone Idea, which has so far paid just Rs 3,500 crore of its Rs 53,039 crore of balanced gross income (AGR) levy, on Tuesday paid around Rs 3,043 crore towards its conceded range contribution, sources said.

Conceded range levy is basically portion instalments that are made by telecom administrators for range purchased in past sell-offs. Administrators like Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea need to pay such portions till 2031 yet after the present instalment they need not pay for the following two years. This is on the grounds that the legislature had a year ago gave them a multi-year ban on such instalments to give alleviation on the income front. Sources said that on Tuesday Bharti Airtel likewise made the instalment of Rs 1,950 crore towards its conceded range levy, while Reliance Jio paid Rs 1,053 crore.

In the interim, on the AGR contribution front, Tata Teleservices on Tuesday made an extra instalment of about Rs 2,000 crore on specially appointed premise. This was well beyond the Rs 2,197 crore instalment it had made on February 17. The organization said that the extra instalment is planned for covering any compromise contrasts.
