Vayavya Labs, an India-based Silicon to System engineering solutions and services company, has announced the expansion of its operations in Japan with the appointment of Mr. Akio Okamura as Head of Japan Business. As vehicles increasingly transition to being software-defined, Vayavya’s virtual ECU platforms and advanced simulation capabilities are poised to play a pivotal role in the Japanese automotive landscape.

With over 38 years of experience in the automotive industry, Mr. Okamura has held senior leadership roles at Nissan Motors, A.T. Kearney, Roland Berger, Ricardo Japan, Accenture, and Star. His extensive experience across R&D, consulting, and business leadership will be instrumental in strengthening Vayavya’s relationships with global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers in Japan.

Under Okamura’s leadership, Vayavya aims to deepen local collaborations and accelerate the adoption of virtual ECU and advanced automotive simulation technologies, enabling early software development and validation before hardware readiness. The company also intends to expand its engagement with global semiconductor manufacturers, leveraging its expertise in automation and system-level design to support the development of next-generation intelligent vehicles.

Mr. RK Patil, CEO, Vayavya Labs, said, “Japan is a key market in the global shift toward Software-Defined Vehicles and AD/ADAS Technologies. Our investment in local leadership reflects Vayavya’s commitment to deepening its engagement with Japan’s automotive and semiconductor ecosystem. With Mr. Okamura onboard, we aim to strengthen partnerships and accelerate adoption of Virtual ECUs and simulation technologies.”

Sharing his thoughts on the appointment, Mr. Akio Okamura added, “I am very excited to join Vayavya Labs. Having worked across various facets of the automotive industry, I see tremendous potential in the field of Autonomous Driving and embedded software engineering. This is the future of mobility, and I look forward to helping our partners in Japan adopt these transformative technologies.”

With over 15 years of expertise and collaborations across North America, Europe, and Asia, Vayavya Labs bridges hardware and software through advanced automation and virtualization platforms. Its expansion in Japan reinforces the company’s commitment to bringing India’s engineering excellence to global markets and advancing software-defined, intelligent vehicles.
