Uttrakhand Policymakers Emphasized Importance of Developing MSMEs for the State

The two-day Uttarakhand Industrial summit-2019 ended at Haridwar. On the day, the summit focused more on development of Micro Small Medium and Small Enterprises (MSME)  sector. A session on ‘Enhancing Competitiveness of MSMEs was organised with an objective to appraise industries on various schemes and facilities provided by institutions and the State Government.

On the occasion the Director Industries, S C Nautiyal apprised participants on startup policy and its benefits, cluster development programme and tool room facility at Sitarganj for MSMEs. He also shared that the State Government is in advance discussions with Mahindra & Mahindra company for manufacturing of electric cars in Haridwar.

The former Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Uttarakhand and Managing Director ( MD) of Force Polymers, Vikas Garg said that State Government has always been supportive and industry has visualised tremendous growth with their efforts.

The Deputy General Manager (DGM), SIDBI, Vibhor Swaroop shared about many innovative schemes of providing finance to MSME sector catering to current market situation. He explained about financial schemes like Sidbi Purchase Equipment for Enterprise Development, Top up loan for immediate proposes and Star – Sidbi term loan assistance for rooftop solar photovoltaic cells.

One of the highlight of the day was business to business vendor development programme wherein Diesel Loco Modernization Works (DMW) Patiala, Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala, BHEL Haridwar and PTCUL Uttarakhand shared their procurement processes and current requirements with small and medium manufacturers from Uttarakhand.

The Assistant Material Manager, DMW Patiala Baldev Singh invited vendors to visit their facility and physically see the components, design, material, quality etc to proceed further.

The session was attended by over 100 participants from different industries in the state. There was also a good flow of visitors at the exhibition of industrial products and services. COBOT (Collaborative Robot) displayed by Universal Robots attracted many visitors from industry and academia.
