Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Uttarakhand has been made the nodal department for the operation of the Growth Centers Scheme.

According to the state Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, this initiative will create employment opportunities at the local level. It will also strengthen the rural economy.

He said that the initiatives will in-turn help to stop migrations as well.

The guidelines issued for the Growth Centers Scheme say that even though there are specialized products available in different areas, their professional production, standardization of quality and the organized system of marketing have not been made at a macro level.

These products can be created at the local level alongside the value addition and processing of these products at the Growth Center, along with better income and employment opportunities.

The guidelines include invitation to private investment and investor as per the requirement in the scheme, State-wise arrangement for taking the fixed item from one source, Reimbursement of interest of five percent and maximum of Rs 10 lakh per year and Reimbursement of 50 percent in SGST and up to Rs 20 lakhs per annum.

For the Growth Centers scheme, a committee will be constituted at the state level under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.

Besides the Chief Secretary, members of Finance, Planning, AYUSH, IT, Agriculture, Parks, Tourism, Animal Husbandry and Co-operative Secretaries will be its members.
