Redis, the world’s fastest data platform, today announced it hired Vimal Venkatram to lead the company’s growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Venkatram comes to Redis after leading Snowflake’s business in India for the last several years.
“Vimal has incredible experience in the region and has shown he can lead teams and drive growth for elite companies in a region that’s going to be incredibly important to Redis’ future,” said Spencer Tuttle, Redis’ Chief Revenue Officer. “Because mobile usage is so high in Asia-Pacific, and in particular India, and GenAI use is growing quickly, fast data to build fast apps is an essential building block for companies in the region. We have a tremendous opportunity in that market. Vimal’s passion and knowledge will help us accelerate the already tremendous growth we’ve seen.”
Venkatram spent the previous five years leading Snowflake’s business in India, focusing on building and scaling sales teams focused on efficient growth and high performance. He has nearly two decades experience driving demand at some of the world’s largest technology companies, including Snowflake, Oracle, and Mulesoft.
“We’re seeing use cases for GenAI start to spread through every industry in the Asia-Pacific region. Companies are looking for ways to get GenAI-powered apps into production so they can give their customers the best experience possible,” Venkatram said. “Real-time data access and fast databases are quickly becoming an essential part of every modern company’s stack. Redis is uniquely positioned to win this market because it enables customers to unify data across multi-cloud, hybrid and global applications and use it to build fast apps that customers love.”
Venkatram joins Redis as the company’s growth in the region is exploding, growing its customer base by 117 percent over the last two years, including the addition of customers like Axis Bank, Zee Entertainment, Mandiri Bank, and Meesho.
