Naveen Patnaik Proposes SAIL to Establish Medical College at Rourkela

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today proposed Steel Authority of India (SAIL) to set up a medical college and hospital at Rourkela.

The Chief Minister made the proposal to SAIL Chairman P K Singh during the course of a meeting held here to discuss activities of the steel major in Odisha, said an official release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.

Also proposed the SAIL to set up a cement plant at Purunapani in Sundargarh district apart from establishing a skill development centre at Rourkela.

The official press release from Mr Patnaik's office said among other things, issues like resettlement & rehabilitation of persons displaced due to Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and Mandira Dam and the establishment of a sewerage treatment plant by SAIL at Rourkela figured during the discussion.

The SAIL Chairman has informed that necessary steps will be taken on the proposals put forth by the Chief Minister.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, and senior officials.
