Motherson, through its joint venture Samvardhana Motherson Hamakyorex Engineered Logistics Limited (SAMRX), today announced an agreement with Dighi Port Limited (DPL), which is a subsidiary of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), to establish a dedicated Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) terminal at Dighi Port, in Maharashtra.
This strategic partnership will develop a state-of-the-art terminal to handle end-to-end finished vehicle (FV) logistics. The terminal's prime location on India's west coast, with excellent multimodal connectivity, makes it an ideal hub for both FV export and import operations, streamlining logistics for major automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
SAMRX, a leading provider of finished vehicle logistics, will invest in the terminal in a phased manner to vertically integrate its services, enabling an annual handling capacity of ~200,000 cars and potential for further scale-up. This will enable the company to offer a comprehensive, end-to-end logistics solution with 360-degree cargo visibility. The new facility will also provide a suite of value- added services, including yard management, AI-based Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) technologies, EV charging infrastructure, customs clearance, and stevedoring.
APSEZ, India’s largest integrated ports and logistics company, continues to strengthen its nationwide footprint through the robust performance of its subsidiary, Dighi Port Company Limited (DPL). As a key strategic port on the west coast, DPL plays a vital role in APSEZ’s strategy to enhance cargo handling efficiency, expand multimodal logistics capabilities, and support regional industrial growth. The combined strengths of APSEZ and DPL reinforce the Group’s commitment to delivering world- class port infrastructure, driving sustainable development, and enabling seamless trade connectivity for India and global partners.
This initiative is set to address the growing demand for efficient, reliable finished vehicle import and export logistics, reinforcing Motherson's commitment to supporting the automotive sector with innovative, integrated solutions.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Arjun Kochhar, CEO, Motherson Logistics Solutions Division, said, "This partnership with APSEZ is a significant step forward in our mission to provide integrated, world-class logistics solutions to the automotive industry. By developing this RoRo terminal at Dighi Port, we are enhancing our service portfolio and also creating a strategic asset that will boost efficiency and reduce logistics costs for our OEM partners. This collaboration will strengthen India’s automotive supply chain and deliver tangible value to our customers."
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Ashwani Gupta, CEO C Whole time Director, Adani Ports and SEZ, said, “Our partnership with Motherson at Dighi Port marks a significant step toward redefining automotive logistics in India. By combining APSEZ’s integrated infrastructure capabilities with Motherson’s expertise, we are creating a seamless, resilient network for vehicle movement across the country. This RoRo terminal will not only accelerate trade and enhance supply chain efficiency but also deliver long-term value to our customers and the communities we serve.
