KiranaPro, India’s first ONDC integrated, and AI-powered quick commerce platform, has taken a significant step forward by welcoming B.S. Nagesh, the esteemed Chairman of Shoppers Stop Ltd. and the visionary Founder of TRRAIN (Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India), to its team as both an advisor and investor.

A stalwart in India's modern retail industry, Nagesh has played an instrumental role in shaping leading brands like Shoppers Stop, Hypercity, and Crossword. His coming on board as an advisor in KiranaPro marks a significant milestone in the company's journey to empower retail kirana stores in the country.

Nagesh, a World Retail Hall of Fame inductee and former Chairman of Marico's board, has been a strong advocate for inclusive commerce. Recognizing Kirana stores as the backbone of India's retail ecosystem, he was highly impressed with KiranaPro's vision and mission, which ultimately led to his decision to join and invest in the company. Nagesh's investment comes as part of KiranaPro's ongoing seed round, which also includes Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, who recently joined as an investor and brand ambassador. While the investment amount remains undisclosed, Nagesh's involvement extends beyond capital infusion, providing strategic guidance and mentorship to propel KiranaPro's growth.

KiranaPro is on an aggressive expansion trajectory. It is currently operational in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR and Kerala. Additionally, the company recently marked its entry into Hyderabad, a significant milestone in its journey to digitize and empower Kirana stores across India.

Commenting on joining KiranaPro as an Advisor, B.S. Nagesh, Chairman of Shoppers Stop Ltd. and Founder of TRRAIN, said, “KiranaPro aligns deeply with my lifelong commitment to empowering people in retail. For decades, I have believed that inclusive growth in commerce is not just about large retail chains but also about strengthening the backbone of India's economy—our kirana stores. KiranaPro's mission to digitize and uplift these entrepreneurs resonates with TRRAIN's vision of creating sustainable livelihoods in retail. By investing in and mentoring KiranaPro, I see an opportunity to bridge the gap between traditional retail and the digital future, ensuring that small retailers not only survive but thrive in the era of quick commerce. I am excited to support KiranaPro in making inclusive commerce a reality for millions of local retailers across India.”

Deepak Ravindran, Co-Founder and CEO of KiranaPro, said, “We are thrilled to have B.S. Nagesh joining KiranaPro as an investor and strategic advisor. Nagesh's proven track record in driving innovation and customer-centric solutions will be instrumental as we embark on this exciting journey together. Our mission is to accelerate growth, break into new markets, and deliver unparalleled value to Kirana store owners across India. With his guidance, we are not just aiming for progress—we are setting the stage for a future where customer satisfaction and business growth go hand in hand."

With a growing user base, KiranaPro has nearly 20,000 registered subscribers and over 1000 daily active users—a testament to its growing influence in the Indian retail sector. The platform is designed to provide Kirana store owners with digital tools, reinforcing their role as integral players in India's retail ecosystem.
