We all talk about Khadi's global appeal. But there is a new example of this statement. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) would join the National Day event of Montenegro in India on July 13, 2018 at New Delhi, known as ‘Trendy Montenegro with Indian Khadi’.
Giving this information, KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena said that the event would globalize the concept of hand-spun, hand-woven and natural fabric – the core properties of Khadi. “The event will also promote the use of Khadi internationally with the Montenegrin and European trends and designers, subsequently creating a global market for Khadi. KVIC will work together with Montenegro in creating promotional commercial sales of its products, which is all set to catch the positive publicity worldwide,” he said, adding, "It is really a matter of pride for the nation that many Diplomats attending this event are likely to don Khadi on this occasion."
On the other hand, expressing her happiness for KVIC collaborating with Montenegro, Dr Janice Darbari, the Honorary Consul General of Montenegro in India, said that goodwill and friendship in the diplomatic core would be used to promote Khadi. “It is a matter of pride that a milestone in international co-operation between Montenegro and India will be set on July 13 as Khadi is a zero-carbon footprint industry that patronizes Indian artisans – hand-spinning and hand-weaving natural fibre clothes. Top diplomats of many Embassies will participate in this event and they will be acquainted with the signature fabric of India and its avenues globally,” she said.
