Twenty-five years ago, Juris Corp began as a small, specialised practice at a time when India itself was finding its feet in a newly liberalised economy. The legaland regulatory landscape was evolving rapidly and so were the ambitions of businesses navigating a new world of opportunity and responsibility. What started as a focused advisory firm soon grew into a trusted partner for institutions shaping India’s banking, finance and corporate sectors.
Founded in the post-1991 reform era, Juris Corp’s journey mirrors the transformation of India’s financial ecosystem. As regulations grew more complex and transactions more sophisticated, the firm grew steadily guided by enduring values: integrity in advice, depth in expertise and a genuine commitment to those it supports. Over the years, Juris Corp has worked closely with its clients through regulatory shifts, landmark transactions and the rise of technology-led compliance, earning trust through consistency.
To mark this 25-year milestone, Juris Corp hosted a special evening in Mumbai that brought together leaders from banking, finance, corporate India and industry bodies; many of whom have been part of the firm’s journey over the decades. More than a celebration, the evening was a reflection of the firm’s culture: thoughtful, inclusive and purpose driven.
Breaking the stereotype of formality often associated with the legal profession, the evening was designed to be interactive, engaging and deeply reflective of Juris Corp’s journey. The host and caricature artists wore badges that read “Lawyers Can Be Fun”— a small but telling detail that set the tone for the night and captured the firm’s belief that rigour and warmth can coexist. Activities blended finance, law and fun—most notably the “Wisdom of the Crowd” challenge, where guests predicted future values of NIFTY, gold and forex across 25 days, 25 weeks and 25 months, playfully nodding to the firm’s 25-year journey. The exercise drew on the economic principle that collective insight often outperforms individual forecasts.
Guests explored the firm’s story through the ‘Journey of Juris Corp’ knowledge wheel—an interactive spin-the-wheel experience that revealed lesser-known moments from the firm’s history. A themed caricature booth brought smiles with illustrations inspired by the worlds of banking and finance, featuring avatars such as the lawyer, stockbroker, sahukar, munim and banker. Even the cocktail menu carried a clever twist, with names like Hedge Fund Highball, In Good Fizz (Faith) and The Insider Sip, subtly weaving the firm’s domain expertise into every detail. Each element of the evening echoed Juris Corp’s belief in innovation—not as a buzzword, but as a mindset rooted in curiosity, participation and continuous learning.
True to its belief that professional success must go hand in hand with social responsibility, the celebration carried a strong ‘give back’ ethos. Gifts and takeaways were sourced from NGOs. Through a simple token-based system, guests selected from causes close to the firm’s heart—supporting skill inclusion for the differently abled, financial literacy for women and education for the underprivileged. Juris Corp is contributing based on such selection to multiple NGOs from the Social Venture Partners network.
The spirit of inclusion went beyond symbolism. Members from Veruschka, the NGO that created the cookies included in the goodie bags, were present at the event and personally handed them out to guests. Two members from Mann worked alongside the service team through the evening, while three members from Teach helped manage the stalls—becoming an active part of the celebration. The evening quietly blurred the line between host, guest and contributor, reinforcing Juris Corp’s belief that meaningful impact begins with shared space and dignity.
Reflecting on the milestone, Talat Shah, Co-founder, Juris Corp Advocates and Solicitors, said: “It’s been a wonderful journey. And delighted that over the years we have had ongoing opportunities to contribute: to our clients, colleagues and society at large.”
As Juris Corp steps into its next chapter, the firm is sharpening its focus on emerging practice areas, deepening engagement with new-age businesses and nurturing responsible, knowledge-driven legal talent.
Jayesh H. (Shah): “Juris Corp is looking ahead with confidence—grateful for the journey so far and ready for the responsibilities that an AI driven future brings.”
