The three-day Jharkhand Mining Show (JMS) 2017 - Mining and Minerals Summit - ended with the state government signing three more MoUs.
"The Jharkhand government signed the MoUs with Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd (MECL) for undertaking mineral exploration to identify prospective mineral blocks, with Vedanta for setting up a steel plant in Jharkhand, and with Shree Cement for setting up a cement plant in Jharkhand," a state government a press release said.
The summit was organised by the state government and the Confederation of Indian Industry.
The memorandum of understanding with MECL will give mineral exploration in the state a significant boost, it said.
On the inaugural day of the summit, an MoU was signed between the government and Coal India Ltd for waste water treatment and supply of water for drinking and irrigation to the people.
Also, the Adani Group had proposed to invest Rs 20,000 crore in the state over the next five years which will lead to creation of 10,000 jobs. Bharat Earth Movers Ltd is also looking to expand its operations in the state.
Jharkhand Urban Development Minister C.P. Singh said: "The state is on the fast track of development work. It will create forums like JMS and come up with more and more opportunities for businesses."
