About 150 industrialists from different districts of Uttar Pradesh participated in an industrial seminar organized by the Indian Industries Association at IIA Bhawan, Gomit Nagar, Lucknow. The seminar was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Satish Mahana, Minister of Industrial Development Government of UP, after the formation of a new government in Uttar Pradesh, this is a major industrial seminar organized.
In his inaugural address Mr. Satish Mahana said that in the last 6 months, the B JP Government and my Ministry has stirred a belief in the minds of the entrepreneurs that the hurdles in industrial development in the state will be overcome soon. This will help government to gain Entrepreneur’s confidence. The present government has inherited a bad industrial environment I salute the entrepreneurs of Uttar Pradesh who have kept their industries alive even in odd situation. I assure the industrialists of the state that this industrial environment will be made cognial by the present government, which will not only increase the growth of industries located in the state but also increase investment from outside the state. I am aware that some anti-social elements are indulging in extortions from the entrepreneurs of the state; such elements will be exercised with power so that entrepreneurs can contribute to the progress of their own and the state without any fear. The Hon'ble Minister also assured the entrepreneurs coming from all parts of the UP present in the seminar that his priority is to solve the problems of the industry and he is making every possible effort. In response to a question from the entrepreneurs present in the meeting, Hon'ble Minister said that the GO related to the new industrial policy is almost ready and will be released shortly so that the compliance of government's announcements in the industrial policy will be ensured.
Earlier, the National President of IIA Mr. Sunil Vaish presented the key issues related to the status of industrial development, the status of small scale industries and industrial development in UP and presented his suggestions. Shri Vaish said that although Uttar Pradesh is the second largest economy in the country after Maharashtra yet the growth rate of industrial growth in the last 30 years has not been satisfactory in the state. We have many expectations from the present government we hope that in the coming years, not only will the industrial growth of the state will improve, but UP will acquire its place as the biggest economy in all the states of the country. In UP, about 35 percent of the population is being nurtured by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector. Therefore there is a need to concentrate more focus on the development of this important sector. Mr. Vaish suggested to speeding up industrial development in the state, to strengthen the Udyog Bandhu for quick solutions to the problems of entrepreneurs, provide adequate land for setting up industries, to promote “Make in UP” the Government Department should give preference in their purchase to goods manufactured in the state, Made in UP exhibitions should be organized and sick industries should be revived.
The entrepreneurs from different parts of Uttar Pradesh also presented their thoughts and suggestions in front of Hon’ble Minister. Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, Member Central Executive Committee, Shri Tarun Khetrapal, Former President, IIA and Mr. R K Chaudhary, Divisional Chairman Varanasi also gave presentations on the Industrial Development in Western UP, Central UP and Eastern UP respectively.
