CISI Mentoring Scheme Marks Three Years With 1,000 Global Matches

CISI mentoring scheme completes three years, crossing 1,000 global mentor-mentee matches and expanding traditional and reverse mentoring for financial professionals worldwide.

The CISI professional mentoring scheme celebrates its third anniversary this year, during which time it has matched over 1,000 mentors and mentees across the global financial services spectrum, including from the United Kingdom, US, UAE, Cyprus, Greece, Nigeria, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The CISI Mentoring Scheme was launched in 2022 as an exclusive worldwide CISI  member benefit, facilitating both traditional and reverse mentoring. CISI members can join the scheme which offers members, at all levels of their career, the opportunity to support one another and build strong and trusting relationships.

The CISI is an educational charity and professional membership body. In 2024 the CISI introduced reverse mentoring, which disrupts the perspective of traditional mentoring and offers more experienced CISI members the chance to learn from more junior members, recognising the importance of lifelong learning and development throughout members’ careers.

Also in 2024, the CISI’s inaugural Mentor of the Year Award was launched to recognise and celebrate an inspirational CISI member who goes above and beyond in supporting their mentee's learning and development and helping them achieve their professional goals. Tsitsi Mutiti Chartered FCSI, Investment Manager at Charles Stanley Wealth Managers, won the inaugural award, nominated by her mentee Bev Aubrey ACSI, while this year’s award was won by Investment Director Arlene Ewing, Chartered FCSI, nominated by her mentee Kolade Salawu, Chartered MCSI.

Tracy Vegro OBE, CISI chief executive said: “This third anniversary of our mentoring programme is a great opportunity to celebrate and hear from those CISI member mentors and mentees who are enjoying the benefits of our scheme.

“From increased self-confidence and development of new knowledge to building leadership and communication skills, mentoring can be career enhancing for all those who participate, either as a mentor or mentee. It provides a real opportunity to be inspired, gain perspective on a shared area and uncover aspects of your profession you have never thought to explore.”
