In order to pursue economic growth through the development of MSMEs and industries in general, Bihar is seeking help and investors from Maharashtra to forge collaboration between large consumers and big manufacturing state.
In this regard, an investors' meet with entrepreneurs and trade bodies in Pune was organized to highlight the potential of Bihar to and invited investors to establish industries in various sectors like electronics, information technology, food processing and textile.
Representatives of the several multinational companies, entrepreneurs from Bihar origin, office-bearers of the Maratha Chamber of Commerce and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) participated in the meet.
As a background, Bihar state under the regime of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is trying every possible bit to bring the state into the industrial mainstream of India.
Bihar industries department principal secretary S. Siddharth and investment commissioner R.S. Srivastav addressed them about the new industrial policy adopted by Bihar, as well as, facilities and subsidies provided to entrepreneurs under it.
Siddharth said “We chose Pune for the meeting because it is the second largest industrial hub of Maharashtra.”
Apart from representatives of multi-national companies, many entrepreneurs of Bihar origin showed interest in setting up operations in Bihar.
"DICCI has promised to mentor 1,000 youth under our Mukhyamantri Anusuchit Jati and Anusuchit Janjati Udyami Yojana (a scheme to promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) in their chosen enterprises, said Siddharth.
It will give a boost to their skills and prospects, he added.
Investment commissioner Srivastav told entrepreneurs that a huge land bank has been created in Bihar after identifying closed sugar mills.
He said "We've established an investment commissioner's office in Mumbai to help industries and entrepreneurs who want to come to Bihar.”
The Maratha Chamber of Commerce agreed to attend an exchange program with Bihar Industries Association and Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
