In a major stride toward advancing India’s maritime and dredging capabilities, BEML Limited and Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) have entered into a strategic collaboration through the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately ₹350 crore during India Maritime Week 2025.

The MoUs were exchanged by Cmdr R.G.K. Rao (Retd.), Head of SBU – Aerospace & Maritime, BEML, and Capt S. Divakar, Managing Director & CEO, DCIL, in the presence of Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director, BEML Limited, and Dr. M Angamuthu, IAS, Chairman, DCIL, during the MoU session at India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, which witnessed the participation of leading stakeholders from across the maritime industry.

The MoUs encompass the following key areas of collaboration:

Supply of indigenous spares for DCIL dredgers.

Design and construction of five inland cutter suction dredgers.

Supply of cable dredgers, long-reach excavators, and customized dredging solutions aimed at supporting reservoir de-siltation and inland waterway development.

These MoUs encompass a broad spectrum of initiatives, including the supply of indigenous spares for DCIL dredgers, the design and construction of inland cutter suction dredgers, and the development of cable dredgers, long-reach excavators, and customized dredging solutions to support reservoir de-siltation and inland waterway development across the country.

Under this partnership, BEML will spearhead the supply, maintenance, and lifecycle support of dredgers and related equipment, while DCIL will oversee their deployment and operational management across key maritime and inland waterway projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director, BEML Limited, said:

“This partnership marks a significant leap in strengthening India’s indigenous capabilities in the maritime and dredging sectors. Through these MoUs, BEML aims to bring its engineering excellence, manufacturing strength, and innovation-driven approach to create sustainable and efficient dredging solutions that align with the Government of India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. Together with DCIL, we are committed to enhancing self-reliance and driving the nation’s maritime growth story forward.”

The collaboration between BEML and DCIL underscores a shared commitment to promote Atmanirbhar Bharat, bolster domestic manufacturing, and accelerate the modernization of India’s maritime infrastructure through indigenous technologies and strategic cooperation.

Last year, BEML and DCIL had also signed an MoU aimed at advancing the design, development, and indigenous manufacturing of spare parts for dredgers, laying a strong foundation for this expanded partnership.
