Bata India marked a significant milestone in its manufacturing journey with the inauguration of a cutting-edge DESMA-PUDIP (Polyurethane Direct Injection Process) machine at its flagship Bata Nagar factory in Kolkata. The event was attended by dignitaries from the Government of West Bengal, senior leaders from Bata India, and representatives from the Bureau of Indian Standards.

The introduction of DESMA-PUDIP machine is set to revolutionize the production capabilities at the factory. This upgrade will not only improve the productivity of the unit but also ensure better quality of the products through better process control and precision operations of robotic arms.

Manufactured by DESMA, a global leader in polyurethane footwear machinery, the new system features automated direct soling, robotic spray and roughening arms, and auto-enabled mold processing, ensuring world-class quality, consistency, and speed.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries including Mr. Maloy Ghatak, honourable Minister of Labour & Law, Government of West Bengal, and Mr. Avanindra Singh (IAS), Labour Secretary, Government of West Bengal. Also present at the event was Mr. Anjan Kundu, Head Supply Chain, Bata India, while Mr. Gunjan Shah, CEO & President, Bata India Ltd., and Mr. David Lynch, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Bata Global, joined virtually.

Gunjan Shah, MD & CEO, Bata India stated, "The commercialization of the DESMA-PUDIP machine marks a bold stride in our journey to modernize and scale our manufacturing capabilities. It reaffirms our commitment to ‘Make in India,’ to innovation, and to creating long-term value for our customers, and association with the state of West Bengal. This is an investment into a more efficient, sustainable, and competitive future for Bata India."

This investment underscores Bata India’s continued focus on strengthening its industrial and safety footwear capabilities, aligning with national manufacturing goals, and building a robust, localized supply chain. With this bold step, Bata Nagar further cements its legacy as the company’s flagship production hub in India.
