Amazon India Launches Prime Service at Rs 499 a Year

NEW DELHI 26th July 2016: Amazon.in announced the launch of its globally popular Amazon Prime membership program in over 100 Indian cities. The Prime program offers a plethora of services including free one-day and two-day deliveries.

The Amazon Prime is available in India at an introductory annual subscription fee of Rs 499, a discount of Rs 500 over the list price of Rs 999. The company also offers an initial 60 day free trial.

Prime members in 20 cities can also choose same-day, morning or scheduled delivery at a discounted fee of Rs 50 per order on over 10,000 products.

For deliveries to cities not yet eligible for one-day or two-day delivery, members will receive free delivery with no minimum purchase, said Amazon.

Prime products will be delivered through the Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA) channel, which helps sellers by giving them access to Amazon’s fulfilment resources, fast, free delivery options for their products and customer service.

“For sellers, Fulfillment by Amazon is now an even more powerful opportunity to rapidly grow their business and at the same time, provide customers across India with vast selection and unlimited fast free Prime delivery,” said Amit Agarwal, VP and country head, Amazon India.

Along with unlimited free fast delivery, Prime members can enjoy Prime Early Access, allowing members to purchase top Lightning Deals 30 minutes early, every single day.

Additionally, Prime members will have special opportunities to enjoy exclusive deals from brands and sellers, selected especially for Prime members, a statement from the company said.
