Amazon India Launches Hyper Local Services for Small Sellers in Bangalore

Sharing is caring!

In a bid to help small sellers to cross the threshold of the digital platform, Amazon India has launched city-specific platforms which allow sellers to advertise products to buyers within the city.

NEW DELHI: Amazon India will pick the product from a seller and deliver it to the buyer, using it logistics network. The methods of payment include cash on delivery and Amazon Pay. Though the complete payment is given to the seller, the latest Amazon platform will charge a commission fee, which starts at Rs. 10 for transaction below Rs. 1,000.

The service is currently available in Bangalore, allowing sellers in jewellery and apparel space to display products online. Buyers, on the other hand, who are registered with the Bengaluru address can view and buy products from local sellers online.

“We have opened up the programme for individual sellers as well as home entrepreneurs in the fashion accessories and ethnic apparel categories. We have seen 600 sellers and home entrepreneurs registered with us over the period of one-and-half months,” said Mahendra Nerurkar, director of new initiatives at Amazon India. The selection will go on to include home décor and other categories.

Apart from Amazon India, Snapdeal has also opened a similar platform named ‘Shoppo’ to make it easier for small sellers to sell their products.
