Collaborative and collective efforts are needed for our society. We have entered into a phase where the concept of society is getting transformed or escalated into connected societies. The annual Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo), is getting organized at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 28 to 30 November 2018. Faiz Askari, Founder of SMEStreet reports from New York.

The first day of this mega event highlighted some great ideas and discussions to make our surroundings better. Organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) in collaboration with United Nations agencies and other partners, the GSSD Expo is strategically engaged with all development actors, including the private sector, civil society, academic and philanthropic organizations, to scale up concrete Southern-grown initiatives to help achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This year marks 10 years since the GSSD Expo’s inception in 2008. Since then, the GSSD Expo has featured thousands of documented best practices from Member States, the United Nations system, private-sector enterprises and civil society organizations. It provides a powerful platform for all development actors and stakeholders to showcase Southern development solutions, celebrate South-South and triangular cooperation successes, share knowledge and lessons learned, explore new avenues for collaboration, and initiate new partnership efforts.

This global event provides a powerful platform for all stakeholders to showcase Southern development solutions, celebrate South-South and triangular cooperation successes. This event and forum is also an opportunity to share knowledge and case studies, explore new avenues for collaboration, and it is expected that over new two to three days new partnership will be formed.
