The industrial focus started getting visibility in Faridabad, when the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru called for Industrial revolution. Since last several decades, Faridabad is one of the most important industrial clusters of North India. Situated in the state of Haryana adjacent to the nation’s capital, MSMEs in Faridabad are doing humongous amount of important and credible work in the several areas of Manufacturing, engineering services and much more.
Faridabad was one of the locations selected for resettlement of refugees from Pakistan. These refugees are credited with the industrial development of the region in 1950s. Later major industries came about in the near vicinity and small and medium enterprises sprung up with a vision to become supply units to these.
As auto majors like Eicher and Maruti sprang up in the vicinity there was a surge in growth of engineering units who supplied components to these majors. Even after Maruti’s shift to Manesar, components are still sourced from Faridabad.
But the growth of Faridabad has more or less stagnated in the past decade. Even after being the first major industrial town in NCR region , it still lags behind other townships like Gurgaon.
