A newly installed ‘CNC logo marking and groove cutting machine’ at Roll Turning Shop was dedicated for branding on Merchant Mill rolls by P.K. Dash, Executive Director (Works) recently in presence of G. Sengupta, GM (RSM, RTS&RPDB), Neeraj Mittal, GM (M) – SRM, G.P.Ojha, GM (PPC) and M. Prem Kumar, DGM (EDD).
This newly installed machine is equipped with state of the art CNC technology for marking the branding on rolls production Merchant products, especially Channels and Angles.
Considering the demand for uniform branding on SAIL- BSP Merchant products, Roll Turning Shop decided to bring about a change in the age-old practice of putting branding details by chiselling method on rolls and upgrade to the method of putting the branding details through CNC machine.
The earlier process of manually branding on rolls was dependant on the skill of the individual doing the job and also lacked consistency. The branding done by this newly installed CNC machine has eliminated the dependency on an individual’s skill, at the same time enhancing the consistency and beauty of the branding details. The use of this new machine has enhanced the aesthetic value of SAIL-BSP products.
Thereby enabling better positioning in the market as compared to competitors.
