Odisha Govt Approves 7 MSME Clusters

At a State-Level Project Steering Committee (SLPSC) meeting, Odisha Government approved 7 MSME clusters including coir and dry fish for the growth and development of MSME sector in the state.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of MSME Additional Chief Secretary LN Gupta where the committee approved dry fish cluster at Paradip, rice mill cluster at Balasore and coir cluster at Teispur, Puri.

The proposals will be submitted to the office of Development Commissioner in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) for approval.

The proposed dry fish cluster at Paradip comprises 424 micro-enterprises with a special purpose vehicle (SPV) having 24 members. The total project cost has been estimated at Rs 9.55 crore, out of which the Centre’s contribution will be Rs 6.5 crore.

The total project cost of the proposed rice mill cluster at Balasore having 21 micro/small enterprises has been estimated at Rs 14.89 crore, of which centre will contribute Rs 10.49 crore.

The proposed cluster will be set up to produce rice bran oil.

Similarly, the project cost for the proposed coir cluster at Teispur is Rs 12.25 crore, of which the MSME will bear Rs 9.31 crore. The project will have 49 micro and 6 small enterprises.

In this regard, SLPSC advised the Industry Director to prepare detailed projects reports (DPRs) and the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) for land allotment to the proposed engineering cluster and fly-ash cluster at Angul, automobile cluster at Bhubaneswar and rasagola cluster at Pahal, on outskirts of State Capital.

Besides, the committee also approved the proposals of IDCO for up-gradation of the existing industrial estates at Angargadia in Balasore district at cost of Rs 8.5 crore, Paradip at cost of Rs 10 crore, Jagatpur Industrial Estate at cost of Rs 10 crore and Chandaka Industrial Estate at cost of Rs 10 crore for MSME recommendation.
