MSMEs of Mandi Gobindgarh Asked to Shift to Piped Natural Gas

At several industrial units in Asia's biggest steel town Mandi Gobindgarh, coal heating system have been replaced with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to control air pollution, according to Deputy Commissioner.

Introducing necessary measures, Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner Dr. Prashant Kumar Goyal said that “In the majority of furnaces, side hood suction system with bag filter house has been installed and at several industrial units, coal heating system has been replaced with PNG.”

The DC asked the remaining industrial units to shift to PNG as it was available in Mandi Gobindgarh. He said the administration has been promoting e-rickshaws and urged farmers not to burn crop stubble.

The DC instructed the officials to speed up the completion of pending road projects and implementing all the rules and regulations regarding construction from the pollution point of view.

He said that the pollution checking centers would relate to the central server system and it would completely eradicate the possibility of issuance of fake pollution certificate.

Along with this, special devices would be installed on roads to check the load of vehicles, as overloaded vehicles spread more pollution, he added.

He directed officials to take strict action against those commuters who violate the pollution rules and regulations. He stressed on planting saplings on large scale and take proper care of them. Moreover, he called upon the youngsters, NGOs, and other organizations to come forward to eradicate the menace.
