EPFO to Raise Funds in the Equity Markets

The Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will increase its investments in Exchange Trade funds (ETFs) to 15 per cent from the current 10 per cent in the fiscal.

The EPFO will take a final call on raising investment limit after the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) meeting scheduled on May 27 in Pune, Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said.

In the CBT meeting, the main agenda item is on raising of ETF investments, he said till now we have invested 10 per cent. .

After the CBT approval, the EPFO will invest Rs 15,000 crore in the ETFs this year.

The EPFO had invested Rs 21,559 crores till April 21,2017 and the market value is Rs 23,845 crore with absolute returns of 10.6 per till March 31 while 11.5 per cent as on April 21, the Minister informed.

The EPFO had invested Rs 6,577 crore in 2015-16 and Rs 14,982 crores in 2016-17, the Minister added.
