All India Solar Summit -2018 concluded at IIA Bhawan, VIbhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. Shri Devendra Chaudhary, Chairman UPSRTC was the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony.  In his welcome address President Indian Industries Association (IIA) Shri Sunil Vaish said that to meet the target of Govt. of India & Govt. of U.P. for Solar Power generation & use, organizing such Solar events is absolutely necessary.  This is why IIA decided to organize Solar Summit 5 years back will organize it at a bigger scale next year.

Shri K.K. Agarwal, General Secretary IIA presented a report on All India Solar Summit 2018 and said there is a steady growth of the Exhibitors & the Visitors for the Solar Summits being organsied by IIA. As against 70 Stalls putup in last year event 84 stalls were putup by 63 solar companies from 9 States of the Country in All India Solar Summit this year. This year IIA introduced a system of feedback from the visitors apart from that from the Exhibitors. The feedback of the visitors has been very encouraging. Almost all the visitors were satisfied and rated the exhibition as very good.

Shri Tariq Hasan Naqvi, Co Chairman Solar Energy Committee of IIA said that though 63 companies form 9 states participated in this year exhibition we would target to bring minimum 100 companies from atleast 18 states in the Country for next year Solar Summit. While all the exhibitors were presented Momento’s during the closing ceremony, special prizes were awarded to the best three stalls in the exhibitions which goes to M/s Easy Solar Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Goldi Green Technologies & SuKam Solar Power Ltd. A consolation prize was also given to Clean Power Tech.

Shri Devendra Chaudhary Chairman UPSRTC, the Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony said that he has a fairly good insight of the Energy Sector since I have served the Ministry of Energy Govt. of India for 3 and ½ years. Looking at the efforts Indian Industries Association is putting to promote the Solar Energy, I must congratulate the Management of IIA. After visiting the Exhibition Stalls, Shri Devendra Choudhary was satisfied with the quality of exhibitors as well as with the response of the Visitors. Shri Choudhary said that  Govt. of India has now fixed a Renewal Energy Purchase obligation (RPO) of  8% for the Power utility Companies in the States. It was difficult for the Power Companies to adhere to this obligation in the past but the bundling is now easy because cost of Solar Power is coming down. There is a great scope for Rural Solar Electrification for which IIA should make a study said Shri Choudhary. If we focus on Roof Top Solar Power Plants & Rural Solar Electrification, the issue of land availability will not be significant as it is for the grounded grid connected Solar Power Projects. Shri Choudhary further said that Electrical Vehicle revolution is coming globally and will come to India also is near future.  These vehicles will need charging stations along the road which will be another business opportunity for small scale entrepreneurs. We also need to study how electrical vehicles will have impact on the Solar Energy utilization. Shri Choudhary said that funding of Solar project and availability of cheap finance for the Solar sector is still an important issue. IIA should explore the funding of  Solar Projects through International funding agency. In the end Shri Choudhary said that for  the next year All India Solar Summit IIA should start planning immediately  and organize it at a bigger venue.

Towards the end of the closing ceremony President IIA unveiled the banner for All India Solar Summit 2019 which will be held from 22nd to 24th Feb. 2019 at Lucknow.
