Gionee Partners with Indus OS to Indianize their Smartphone

Indus OS, India’s home-grown smartphone platform, has announced a partnership with Gionee, a leading global smartphone brand with a loyal consumer base of over 1.25 crore and plans to be in the top 5 smartphone brands in India by the end of the next fiscal year. The partnership with Indus OS aligns with Gionee’s long-term strategy to establish a clear software differentiation in the presently cluttered Indian smartphone market.

For the home-grown Indus OS, this partnership with a major international brand is testimony to the growing trust that the smartphone ecosystem have on Indus OS’ platform’s success and its relevance in the Indian smartphone market.

The partnership will see Indus OS’ flagship features being introduced on majority of new Gionee smartphones. This will allow Gionee’s loyal consumer base in India to experience the Indus platform and its unique features for the Indian market.

  • Brand Accounts – The recently announced feature by Indus OS which allows for contextual integration of India’s top content & services allowing Indian smartphone users to access them without installing a 3rd party app. Ola, Zomato, BookMyShow are some of India’s top services to be integrated at the OS-level in Gionee smartphones
  • Recharge 2.0 – Balance tracking, analytics & one touch recharge for the 95% of the Indian mobile users who use prepaid connection
  • Access to trending news, videos, weather forecast in English & 10 Indian regional languages

As a beginning to this multi-year partnership, the first two Gionee smartphones with Indus OS’ flagship features are expected to hit the Indian market in April-May 2018. With this new partnership, Indus OS expects an exponential growth in its product engagement metrics which would lead to even more partnerships with leading Indian developers for Brand Accounts. These new partnerships will continually improve the experience of the Gionee smartphone users.
