IAS Subhas Chandra Lal Das is the New MSME Secretary

Mr Subhas Chandra Lal Das

1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre Mr Subhas Chandra Lal Das has joined the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises as its new Secretary. 

Mr Das is an M.Phil in Public Management and B.Sc. in Statistics. He has replaced Mr BB Swain who was appointed as the Secretary in the MSME ministry in January 2021. 

In his previous role, Das served as the Director General of Hydrocarbons, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas since December 2019 and was earlier the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Department of Personnel and Training under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions earlier this week approved his appointment.

In his previous role, Mr Das served as the Director General of Hydrocarbons, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas since December 2019 and was earlier the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs. 

Mr Das has joined the MSME Ministry at a time when the MSME sector of India has taken centre stage of policymaking. From ‘Ease of Doing Business’ to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has kept the MSME sector at top priority for India’s economic growth.
