Union Minister Anurag Thakur Inaugurates VFX and Tech Pavilion at 54th IFFI

The Minister inaugurated and inspected various sections of the Pavilion including Cine Museum, Viewing Zones of Amazon Prime and Netflix, among others.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Singh Thakur today inaugurated the VFX and Tech Pavilion as part of the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Established for the first time in Film Bazaar history by NFDC at IFFI, the VFX and Tech Pavilion will showcase some of the most dynamic, immersive and cutting edge advances in film-making technology in the field of animation, visual effects, virtual reality and CGI.

The Minister inaugurated and inspected various sections of the Pavilion including Cine Museum, Viewing Zones of Amazon Prime and Netflix, among others. The Minister took a demonstration of full frame Cinema Line Cameras of Sony and interacted with the young film makers, selected under 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow initiative. He also interacted with the selected authors in the Book to Box section of the Tech Pavilion.

Shri Thakur said that India’s growth from 10th to the 5th largest media and entertainment economy has been phenomenal. He said, ‘’given the talent and volume of film and media content produced in the country, India will soon become the 3rd largest Media and Entertainment Industry in the world.’

The Minister said that India is embracing new technological interventions and innovations in film production, adding ‘’India is the most sought-after destination for film shoots and post production backed by the talent of our youth and children and the innovation of our industry leaders.’’

Highlighting the role of new technological interventions, the Minister said, ‘’India is a country of storytelling and people like and consume immersive, creative and original content.’’ The Minister added that content creators should make use of ever evolving technology in media and film making, with a focus on informing and educating the audiences alongside entertainment.

Shri Thakur further said, ‘’India is a hub of post-production, adding that the newly established VFX and Tech Pavilion will further augment the post production in film making.’’

I&B Minister taking a virtual demonstration of VFX Technology

The experts from the creative and AI spaces will unveil the possibilities and advancements in moviemaking by devising virtual worlds, forming intelligent characters, and sharing personalized experiences to showcase the magic beyond the camera.

Some of this year’s esteemed, participating brands include Google Arts and Culture, Netflix and Amazon.

The Minister was accompanied by Ms. Neerja Sekhar, Additional Secretary, M/o I&B; and Mr. Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary (Films), M/o I&B and MD, NFDC.
