“Our Government first did the demonetization to kill the parallel black money economy and then implementing the GST,” Meghwal emphasized.
NEW DELHI: Minister of State for Finance, Arjun Ram Meghwal emphasized that check posts dealing with various issues must get removed after implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST). Ease of Doing Business will come as a welcome impact of GST implementation.
Addressing a session in the three day India Integrated Transport and Logistics Conference 2017, Mr Meghwal said that there is no need for Animal Husbandry, Forest and Mining related check posts once the GST comes into existence in the whole country as it will be waste of time and resources.
He said that GST is in existence since 165 years as it was first introduced in France, but GST in India is different from all the countries. He said, “Our Government first did the demonetization to kill the parallel black money economy and then implementing the GST.”
Earlier in the same session, Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia too emphasized that there will be less number of check posts in the GST regime as GST will cover most of the subjects.
He said that the GST has been created in such a way that it remains flexible in which addition or deletion can be done as per the need of the hour.
He added that India is the only country where two governments are implementing GST. One is central government and other one is state government. He said that India will become single market with uniform tax regime with everything going online in it.
