Goa’s Traditional Kunbi Textile Get’s Central Govt’s Attention

Ms Irani said during her meeting with the State Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude she mentioned that the Centre would provide assistance to those who wanted to revive the Kunbi saree.

‘Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani said her Ministry will provide all assistance to those working to revive Goa’s traditional `Kunbi’ saree.

Responding to a question during a press conference in the city, she said, ”Kunbi saree from Goa was displayed during the curtain raiser of Textile event that happened in Delhi.”

The Kunbi textile is a traditional concept and is a true reflection of Goa’s culture. There are  about 2500 households that are connected with this style of garment and with the focus that Government has shown this figure is likely to go up in next one year.
