To empower small and medium businesses and to leverage the growth of digital economy and reach a wide customer base, e-commerce giant Amazon India has announced the launch of an Urban Fulfilment Centre (FC) located at Jhotwara in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
JAIPUR: The centre is spread over 40,000 square feet with close to 130,000 cubic feet of storage space, The urban FC model will further enable Amazon.in to support deliveries under its recently launched Prime program and offer faster delivery during the upcoming festive season.
With this launch, Amazon.in has 24 operational Fulfilment Centres in 10 states across the country with a combined storage space of over 6 million cubic feet. This is the 3rd of the 6 FCs Amazon.in has planned to invest in this year as it gears up for the festive season.
On the occasion of the launch, Vaibhav Galriya, Commissioner, Investments and NRIs, Government of Rajasthan, said “We are very pleased that Amazon India sees Jaipur as a key growth market and has invested in a fulfilment centre in the heart of the city.
“The Fulfilment Centre will provide local sellers, weavers, artisans, and craftsmen with a platform to sell their products such as handicrafts, apparel, home décor and jewellery etc to millions of customers and scale their business to greater heights. It will also create numerous employment opportunities for the youth in the space of ancillary businesses such as packaging, transportation, logistics, and hospitality across the state,’’ he added
Akhil Saxena, Vice President, India Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India said “For our sellers, this FC in the heart of Jaipur will enable thousands of small & medium businesses to save money by replacing their upfront capital expense with low variable cost and pay only for the storage space they use and the orders that we fulfil.”
Through this Fulfilment Centre with state-of-the-art infrastructure, Amazon.in will provide a delightful customer experience through Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA). When using FBA, sellers across India send their products to Amazon’s FCs and once an order is placed, Amazon picks packs and ships the order to the customer, provides customer service and manages returns on behalf of the sellers.
